Hard to describe how I felt about this. Maybe I can't think of a word positive enough for it? All I can say right now is that it was a very satisfying, well rounded race. Perfect weather, race had a bit of everything and the turn 4 seats were simply mindblowing. I actually teared up as they came by on Lap 1 because it was so beautiful.

The buzz was electric, everyone hoping that race would go the whole way without a yellow after the first 130 laps and we were pissed when it didn't. The anger wore off quickly though with such good racing. The last 6 laps, there were no favorites. Everyone cheered for every driver. As much as I wanted to see Helio win, Hunter Reay kicked ass all day and definitely deserved it. We all cheered for his winning pass.

Pretty much seals the deal for my family. We're making this a yearly occurrence.

I played this a lot in the last few months. Was only playing as British, so I eventually got to Tier V and promptly decided to never fly a British jet again (the first Meteor is laughably bad). Since then I've been working on US and USSR, trying to get some big cannoned planes for when they start doing combined battles again.

Tanks are..... ugh. I had the closed beta and they were decent fun for a bit, but balancing issues really started to ground down my patience.

Old sedans with crappy bodykits that keep running into each other. It is Need for Speed!

It was Arsenal's game to lose yesterday and I'll be damned if they didn't almost do it.

When I say blocking the leader, I don't just mean holding the racing line. That's perfectly fair, run as fast as you can on the line and if I can't get by you then it's my fault. I mean genuinely defending and blocking against a car that's a lap ahead. The slower car still has some responsibility. They shouldn't be allowed to make deliberate moves that endanger the leader.

I got behind a lapped car at Limerock and after 2 laps of him moving to the inside to block me I finally accepted I would have to try the outside. Of course, he got on the brakes way too late and plowed right into the side of me. The amazing thing about the rookie classes is that no matter what license level the people have, they are all equally stupid.

Gave myself a 3-month subscription as an end of the semester gift.

3 races back and I already feel the same. I love the game, but hate the people. In 3 races I saw: brake checking bump drafters, not letting the leaders by for the blue flag (I understand you don't have to yield, but blocking the leader? really?), and the typical plethora of poor decisions. It's like these people don't have brains. In before "Of course they don't, they pay to play iRacing."

I love when people do that. I raced a guy real hard in the Miata at Limerock once and ended up winning because he spun. After the race he said I was slowing us down and being disrespectful/too risky by trying to pass him when not on the front straight. We only made contact once (0x, afterwards I conceded several car lengths as an apology) and that race was the only time I averaged a sub 1:00 lap at Limerock.

How the hell can one win and be too slow?

There's a few kids at my university who mine. They say the only reason its profitable for them is because they can do it in the library so that the school has to foot the power bill.

Not to mention the fact that it steals sections directly from Istanbul, Silverstone, and Hockenheim.

The problem is that it's a modern Tilke track and it contains many of his passing gimmicks. For example, widening the track on entry to a hairpin so that there are more lines, but then the track looks mutant. Turn 1 is the worst culprit.

That's hardly an American design feature. The closest thing we have to that would be the last turn of Laguna Seca I guess, but that's not a mutant hairpin, it's just a tight corner.

It's a Tilke track with typical Tilke features. Yes, it may be one of his best designs, but it still contains a lot of crap that is his signature.

Clearly it's shopped, there aren't enough sponsor logos on it for it to be a real Lotus.

Speaking of which, they've got the car absolutely covered in advertising, but they still struggle for money?

Agreed. How many cars are expected to show up to Indy now?

Quote from sil3ntwar :They have set start times? You think they could stagger them a bit. $12 isn't a lot of money so I guess I should try it.

Not happy about paying for tracks and cars though!

Yea, start times are usually 1 or 2 hours apart from what I recall. It does suck a bit to wait, but you end up with people at your performance level, so the racing is usually good.

Also, if you're a lucky bastard, you may be able to run 2 series at the same time. Like, maybe Radical RS8s run at 1 and 3 pm, but IndyCars run at 2 and 4 pm. Races are almost always under an hour, so you can run both if you have the endurance.

And, ugh, don't remind me about cars and tracks. The nice thing about buying cars is that they are raced for a whole season, but seemingly always on tracks that you don't own. Meanwhile, the tracks you buy seem to always be raced in a season for a car you don't own. The double ****over is the fact that almost any track you buy now will probably be off 90% of the schedules in a year because of the new tracks that have been introduced.
